Sarah & Simon my best friend got married at sea this year. he and his bride-to-be invited their family and friends to join them for the wedding on key west and their honeymoon cruise to cozumel, mexico. it was quite a party. before the nuptuals though, simon's sister contacted me about a surprise/practical joke. i drew this dual portrait of sarah and simon. elana had it printed on t-shirts that all of their friends and family wore on our first day at sea. it sounds pleasant, right? except that the dozens and dozens of identical shirts announced the bride and groom to everyone on the ship. long after we had changed into our formal wear, perfect strangers recognized sarah and simon thanks to this drawing. nicer passengers bought them drinks and congratulated them. drunker ones teased them. god forbid they were recognized when they weren't together; "lost your wife again?" one jovial waiter asked simon whenever he caught him alone. sorry, my friend, but congratulations!
