cicada magazine commissioned these illustrations for a story about S.A.T. anxiety.

the article reminded me that the farther i get from my school years the more i miss its busy work. i miss finding tautologies in geometry for intance. i miss diagraming sentences. now, i do it for fun sometimes. honestly. at a used book store, i bought textbooks for cosmology, physics, communications, and other classes that i hadn't appreciated when i was in high school.

typing that sentence reminded me of my last math class, calculus. i spent the entire semester doodling. one of my classmates, melanie neal, took notes for me on the condition that i never draw her. she was shy, i guess.
