every frame in this comic contains at least one inside joke. i won't ruin them with explanations but i will share one of them with you:

christine and i have fun imagining what moves we would have if we were characters in a video game like Def Jam Vendetta or Mortal Combat. obviously, one of christine's moves is the Sketchers Kick. a few more of them include Razor Bang, Grip Fu, Cinnaburst, and her finishing move during which she would shrug and say "It's no big deal!"

some of my moves are Crazy Legs and Hot Hands. our friend sidra has an AfroBlock. our friend simon, a ceramicist, would exclaim "MUDMONKEY!" before hurling lumps of clay that would transform into an angry stone apes.

my brother and i were at a mexican restaurant when i asked him what moves he would want. "taco hands," he answered with disinterest. "no," i said, "seriously." "'seriously?' you 'seriously' want me to tell you what super powers i would have if i were a character in a video game?" he paused to emphasize how ridiculous i was.

we decided that he would also have a CowTongue Attack.
